DiGi to leverage on MNP to boost post-paid market share

KUALALUMPUR: DiGi.Com Bhd subsidiary DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd aims to grow its postpaid market share with the newly-launched mobile number portability (MNP) nationwide.

Chief executive officer Johan Dennelind said the MNP came at an opportune time for DiGi to grow out of its comfort prepaid zone and, at the same time, would increase its overall market share of about 26% currently.

“This is a natural progression for growth as DiGi matures. With less than 20% of the postpaid market share, MNP allows us to further tap into the space dominated by high usage users who care about their bills,” he said at the launch of its 1 Low Flat Rate promotion on Thursday.

DiGi.Com will announce its third-quarter results next Friday.

Denniland said the MNP, an industry milestone, would put Malaysia on par with advanced telecommunications nations and raise the bar on mobile user experience.

“The MNP opens up the floodgates for number-sensitive customers who would enjoy greater savings, better connection with friends and family, latest innovation as well as good customer service,” he said.

DiGi’s latest promotion offers one low flat rate to all networks across prepaid, postpaid and business segments.

“DiGi is the first to introduce 1 Low Flat Rate, a winning proposition in an MNP environment, where you don’t have to worry about costs of calling other networks,” he said.

In addition to absorbing the porting fee, DiGi offers prepaid customers who switch an automatic 365-day validity at no additional cost.

Meanwhile, customers who port to its postpaid package will enjoy free activation without any advance payment needed.

Those who wish to switch are given the option to either go to DiGi’s outlets across the country or submit their details online.
